Community Planting & Wellness Day, Auckland
Join us for a fun, family-friendly day restoring the Papakura Stream - one of Auckland’s most impacted freshwater systems. These special community planting events are part of the Auckland Junior Landcare Trust Legacy Project, a collaboration between CVNZ, New Zealand Landcare Trust and Bupa, bringing together community members, rangatahi, Bupa residents and volunteers from across Tāmaki Makaurau. You will be supporting our work on the Papakura Stream Restoration Project, where we have planted more than 168,000 native plants over the past five years. These trees are helping to restore native forest cover, improve stream health and create habitat for local wildlife. These action-packed days will kick off with a 20-minute wellness and yoga session before we get stuck into planting native trees and plants along the stream. Expect fresh air, muddy boots, great company and hands-on action for all ages. Bring your whānau, friends and community spirit - everyone is welcome! Whether you’re a first-time volunteer or a seasoned planter, there’s a role for everyone. CVNZ will provide all the tools and equipment for the day. Please wear sturdy, comfortable footwear, bring a water bottle and snacks. The day will finish with a celebratory BBQ to thank volunteers for their hard work. For this volunteer day you are welcome to meet us on site, or at our office in Mount Eden to get a ride in our van (by prior arrangement). Come along, connect with nature and help make a lasting difference for the Papakura Stream.
